Salls received the award on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam. His organization was successful in increasing total donations from their 2019 results of $50 to more than $3,000. As a creative tool to increase donations, the agency implemented a marketing method called the “$1 Challenge.” Employees were encouraged to review the list of charitable organizations and commit one dollar as a single or recurring donation to a charity of their choice. Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency team searches for the missing

U.S. service members with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) carry transfer cases containing the remains of possible U.S. military personnel lost during the Battle of Tarawa at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Sept. 27, 2019. The remains are being transferred to DPAA's laboratory for forensic examination, so that they may be identified.
