The Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard raised a total of approximately $379,000, surpassing their 2019 contributions by 20%. U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jon T. Thomas, Pacific Air Forces deputy commander, left, presents the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Medium Agency of the Year Award to U.S. Coast Guard Master Chief Petty Officer Charlie Salls, during a CFC Award Ceremony at Joint Base Pearl-Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Feb. 26, 2021. Salls received the award on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam. His organization was successful in increasing total donations from their 2019 results of $50 to more than $3,000. As a creative tool to increase donations, the agency implemented a marketing method called the “$1 Challenge.” Employees were encouraged to review the list of charitable organizations and commit one dollar as a single or recurring donation to a charity of their choice. Megan Chavez, who received on behalf of the 18th Medical Command (MEDCOM), Fort Shafter, Hawaii, during a CFC Award Ceremony at Joint Base Pearl-Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Feb. 26, 2021. This year, 18th MEDCOM tripled their total donors and increased total amount raised by one and half times their 2019 results. Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency team searches for the missing
U.S. service members with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) carry transfer cases containing the remains of possible U.S. military personnel lost during the Battle of Tarawa at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Sept. 27, 2019. The remains are being transferred to DPAA's laboratory for forensic examination, so that they may be identified.
