National POW/MIA Recognition Day Ceremony at the Punchbowl

U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. More than 200 past and present military members and civilians gathered with the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) as they honored those held in captivity or are missing in action from past conflicts. The third Friday of Sept. has served as the National POW/MIA Recognition Day since 1986 and honors and recognizes the sacrifices of those Americans who have been prisoners of war and to remind the Nation of those individuals that are still missing.
