Gen. Hawk Carlisle, Pacific Air Forces commander, meets with members of the People’s Liberation Army of China, the unified organization of China’s land, sea, and air forces, at the PACAF headquarters building March 8, 2013. Fourteen Chinese officers ranking between 0-4 and 0-8 visited U.S. Pacific Command and its service components as part of an agreed upon reciprocal visit between Chinese and American military officers. During their visit, the Chinese officers received a briefing from Carlisle on PACAF’s priorities, and viewed a C-17 Globemaster III. In the fall, mid-level officers from U.S. PACOM and its component commands will conduct a reciprocal visit to China in order to increase institutional understanding, exchange views on the international security environment, and identify further ways where our two militaries may work together to enhance stability, and maintain peace and security in the Pacific.
