  • Misawa Air Base demonstrates combat readiness in first joint, bilateral Elephant Walk

    Members of the 35th Fighter Wing completed a readiness exercise, designed to validate the wing’s ability to rapidly generate combat airpower. The exercise culminated in a joint and bilateral “Elephant Walk” formation composed of 31 aircraft, demonstrating the large-scale combat airpower local to Misawa.

    After a transition from the older C-130H Hercules model, the 36th Airlift Squadron are ready to provide tactical airlift throughout RF-A.   "It’s our first time flying the J-model in RF-A, so it’s really been a learning experience for us as a squadron,” said Capt. Christopher Ansel, 36th Airlift Squadron C-130J mission planning cell chief.  
  • Yokota Airmen provide airlift at Red Flag-Alaska

    Airmen assigned to the 374th Airlift Wing flew to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, to provide joint airlift support during the 2-week exercise, Red Flag-Alaska 18-2. Representing the Pacific’s Premiere Power Projection Platform, the Yokota Airmen joined the approximately 2,000 total service members participating in the exercise each year.
