Celebrating Women's Equality Day at Osan

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Sonia Toro-Valles, 51st Security Forces Squadron section chief of standardization and evaluations, poses for a photo as a part of Women’s Equality Day at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Aug. 15, 2023. Toro-Valles conducts duty position evaluations, ensuring the squadron’s 450 Defenders have the knowledge and skills required to perform their duties and defend the base. Women's Equality Day, established by the Joint Resolution of Congress in 1971, is observed on Aug. 26th and commemorates the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. The observance has grown to include focusing attention on women's continued efforts toward gaining full equality. Today, the 51st Fighter Wing continues to make leaps and strides to ensure all Airmen, regardless of gender, race or age, have an equal opportunity to excel and contribute to the mission of keeping the Indo Pacific open and free.
