F-22 Raptor rejoins fleet after five-year absence

U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Joshua Eller, an F-22 Raptor crew chief assigned to the 90th Air Maintenance Unit, inspects an F-22 in preparation of an afterburner run on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, April 19, 2023. The afterburner run was conducted to ensure the correct transfer of fuel for tail number AF-07-146, one of the final tests the aircraft had to undergo over a five-year period to return to operational status after its crash at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada, in 2018. Aircraft 146 conducted a successful functional check flight and returned to the operational fleet May 4. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class J. Michael Peña)
