U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Robert Monk, 3rd Marine Air Wing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense chief, center, briefs Airmen and Marines on decontamination procedures before they enter a standalone large shelter during exercise Toxic Pineapple at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, Sept. 1, 2022. CBRN agencies and subject matter experts from agencies across the U.S. Department of Defense collaborated to coordinate the setup of the SAL, which acts as a portable Integrated Collective Protective System against chemical, biological, radiological and high yield explosive attacks. The ColPro enables service members to get into a sustainable environment where they can decontaminate, enter the SAL shelter, reconstitute themselves and their equipment, and then get out and back into the fight.
