The Airmen at the 18th Medical Group optometry clinic on Kadena Air Base, Japan, are here to make sure service members not only complete their respective jobs but also function happily and healthily. Ophthalmic specialists attend eight weeks of training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, to learn how to diagnose eye disorders and what medications are used to treat the conditions. The optometry clinic at Kadena sees roughly 35 to 40 patients a day and provides care for active-duty service members, retirees and their families.
