Dignified return for Col. Eugene Smith
Special Agent Timothy Ries, Office of Special Investigations Region Six deputy director, awaits a convoy of vehicles transporting the remains of Col. Eugene Smith from the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command facility on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii July 22, 2014. While flying to Elmendorf Air Force Base in November 1952, Smith was lost when his Douglas C-124 Globemaster II crashed into the side of Mt. Gannet in Alaska. The lost crash site was recently found by the Alaska Air National Guard. PACAF Airmen Observe National Police Week
Airmen observe a moment of silence in front of a memorial honoring fallen Security Forces Airmen May 12, 2014 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The memorial was placed in the Courtyard of Heroes in the Pacific Air Forces Headquarters Building in honor of national "Police Week" - a time of observance proclaimed in 1962 by President John F. Top Air Force leaders from several Pacific countries tour the USS Arizona Memorial March 28, 2014, as part of the Pacific Air Chief’s Symposium at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
