Taking part in Tanabata
FUSSA, Japan – Airmen from Yokota Air Base carry a portable Shinto shrine during the 59th Annual Fussa Tanabata Festival Aug. 7. The shrine, called a Mikoshi, translates as “cloud burst” in English. More than 40 Airmen carry the shrine each year during the festival, also known as the “star festival.” According to Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, usually separated from each other by the Milky Way galaxy, meet up in the night sky on the same day each year. Talking about the C-17
Capt. Skye Nakayama, C-17 pilot with the 204th Airlift Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, talks about the capabilities of the C-17 Globemaster with Sam Fujikawa, a World War II veteran who was a member of the 100th Infantry Battalion. The 100th infantry Battalion celebrated its 65th anniversary on June 5. The 100th Infantry Battalion is part of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, a unit composed of mostly Japanese Americans who fought in Europe during World War II. Talking resiliency

Testing liquid oxygen
KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Senior Airman Christian House, 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron, takes a sample of liquid oxygen to test its smell.
