QUANG NGAI, Vietnam (Aug. 20, 2024) – The Pacific Partnership 2024-2 Band performs on stage with artists from the Quang Ngai Provincial Cultural and Arts Center at the opening ceremony of PP24-2 and Pacific Angel 2024-3 at Pham Van Dong Square in Quang Ngai, Vietnam, Aug. 20, 2024. Now in its 20th iteration, the Pacific Partnership series is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. Pacific Partnership works collaboratively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase security and stability in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships in the Indo-Pacific. PACAF Band Revisits Sendai
Members of the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific-Asia pose with residents of Kabanomachi, a coastal town near Sendai city, Japan, in the Kabanomachi Elementary School gymnasium, on Aug. 11, 2024. A tsunami struck the eastern coast of Japan in the aftermath of a 9.0 earthquake on March 11, 2011, causing 19,759 deaths and severe damage, with the U.S. Department of Defense responding with a massive relief effort known as “Operation Tomodachi” to aid the affected citizens. The band participated in the operation and performed throughout affected areas to include Kabanomachi, and the band returned to perform again in 2024 to honor those lost in the disaster.
