Hickam Air Force Base remembers attack on Oahu
Members from the 15th Airlift Wing base honor guard commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Dec. 7, 1941 surprise Japanese attack at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii Dec. 7, 2006. The base held a ceremony at the base flagpole to honor the attack on then Hickam Field, which left 189 dead and 303 wounded. Japanese Emperor honors America's fallen
Emperor Akihito, Emperor of Japan, lays a chrysanthemum wreath at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater, Hawaii, July 15. Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko paid tribute to those interred at the cemetery in a ceremony attended by Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, Navy Adm.
