Operation Deep Freeze
A U.S. Army Modular Causeway System is used during Operation New Dawn to aid in the delivery of incoming and retrograde cargo totaling 15.5 million pounds that was handled by members of the Joint Task Force – Support Forces, Antarctica. Operation Deep Freeze is the Department of Defense's support activity to the National Science Foundation. The U.S. Army’s 331st Transportation Company, falling under the 7th Sustainment Brigade based at Fort Eustis, Va., responded to a request from the NSF for assistance. The 331st TC is responsible for the operation of the Modular Causeway System in Logistics over the Shores missions worldwide. This was the first time the company worked in Antarctica. Operation Pacific Angel 2012

PACANGEL is a joint and combined humanitarian mission and inclues medical, dental, optometry, engineering support and subject-matter expert exchanges. More than 8,500 patients were seen during the six-day exercise, which ran from March 5 to 10 in Legazpi City, Philippines. More than 90 U.S. military forces partnered with Philippine, Cambodian and Tongan military forces, non-governmental agiencies, local government units and hundreds of vouluteers to care for patients. Knowledge gained while working alongside various host country agencies and militaries enhances mission effectiveness during any future humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts in the Asia-Pacific region. Operation Pacific Angel
Airman 1st Class Taylor Vondrasek, 36th Civil Engineer Squadron structural apprentice, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, takes a moment to connect with the children from Binitayan Elementary School, Legazpi City, Philippines, on March 5, 2012. Vondrasek and fellow engineers from the U.S. and Philippine military forces rebuilt three class rooms at the school during the six-day mission.
