The Air Force Band of the Pacific, Hana Hou, stationed at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii recently played at Radford High School as part of an Air Force recruitment tool to pique the interests of potential recruits.

"We are out here to play a concert during the lunch time period," said Staff Sgt. Richard Vasquez. "We are going to let the kids know a little bit about the Air Force, what we do and what the Air Force can offer them," he said.

Although most high school students haven an idea of what the military does from watching television news; concerts like this one, from Hana Hou, gives high school students a little different perspective on the military.

"Usually when I think of the military I think of guns and going to war and things like that," said Monique Jamison a senior at Radford High School. "But this concert shows there are other sides to the military," she said.

Hana Hou is not the first band to perform at the high school. In an hour of music dancing and a little Air Force exposure their performance drew the largest crowd in recent memory.

"This has been the most student participation. We have never had a crowd drawn out this much in the past," said Vincent Moe, campus security. "If I had a hat I'd be taking it off to the Air Force," he said.
