Since 2001, the Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor's Heroes has honored members of the local Department of Homeland Security and military for their service to our state and country during an annual luncheon.

This year, two of the 30 selected for recognition were two Hickam Airmen; Capt (Chaplain) James Parrish, 15th Airlift Wing Chapel Center, and Staff Sgt. Axel Torres, 15th Maintenance Operations Center controller.

"The honored guests are exemplary in their service to our community and our nation," said Donna McLaughlin, President of the Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor. "It is truly a wonderful experience to meet these remarkable individuals and to honor them for their accomplishments."

The festivities included an introduction of all who received recognition, plus an inspirational "talk story" speech from Adm. Timothy J. Keating, U.S. Pacific Command commander.  The ceremony concluded with a  holiday musical performance by the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific, Hana Hou.
