Yokota will be the second base in Pacific Air Forces to transition to a new hazardous material tracking system when the Enterprise Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Management Information System becomes fully operational at the end of July.

The new system, called EESOH-MIS, replaces the Air Force Environmental Management Information System.

Contractors trained 12 people from base organizations and the Hazardous Materials Management Process team members in early June. During the next few months, those trained by the contractors will conduct classes to train others.

"Users will experience many new benefits while using this system," said Staff Sgt. Ryan Lee, 374th Logistics Readiness Squadron HazMart pharmacy NCOIC.

With the new system units will use it to request and order hazardous materials, track hazardous material consumption, and create authorizations for hazardous materials. The system will be accessible through the Air Force Portal.

People will no longer have to submit an AF Form 3952, Material Safety DataSsheets, or technical orders to Pharmacy, Sergeant Lee said. This information can be input into the new system, saving time, paper and money.

The Air Force Environmental Safety Management Information System will be used simultaneously with the new system until all units on Yokota receive training.
