U.S. Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) and the Royal Brunei Air Force will conduct the Search and Rescue (SAR) exercise, PACIFIC ANGEL 26-1, from August 25 to September 5, 2026.

The exercise is designed to enhance interoperability and readiness between the U.S. and Brunei to respond effectively to regional contingencies. The exercise will feature several key activities, including search and rescue operations, overland/overwater personnel and equipment airdrops, and aeromedical and cargo handling subject matter expert exchanges.

During the exercise, aircraft will be staged at Rimba AB, a joint-use airfield with Brunei International Airport in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. Additionally, U.S. and Brunei subject matter expert exchanges will prepare U.S. and the Brunei military to execute theater plans in response to regional contingency and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief (HA/DR) situations.

This exercise aims to improve combined capabilities, evaluate and support the Brunei’s long-term modernization efforts, and strengthen the bonds between the United States and its regional allies and partners.

PACAF is the air component of the U.S. Pacific Command. Its primary mission is to provide air and space power to promote U.S. interests in the region.
