JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM, Hawaii -- The 10th annual Pacific Air Command Weapons and Tactics Conference once again brought together an international, multi-lateral gathering of experts to address finding new solutions for adversary deterrence in the Indo-Pacific region at PACAF Headquarters, Sept. 23-27, 2024.
More than 200 representatives attended the week-long event that included instructors from the Royal Australian Air Force 88 Squadron, British Royal Air Force Weapons and Tactics experts, weapons school graduates from the U.S Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Space Force, and the U.S. Navy Top Gun school.
“The Air Warfare Centre embraces the opportunity to participate in another WEPTAC,” said RAAF Air Commodore Adrian Maso, Air Warfare Center commander. “We highly value our continued relationship with PACAF as the sharing of concepts and ideas makes us stronger and contributes to the preservation of regional stability."
The week-long event featured collaborative workshops on info-sharing opportunities, Long-range Maritime Strike, Air Superiority, intelligence and reconnaissance, command and control capabilities.
“Great things result from getting 150+ diverse weapons officers together to focus their expertise on Indo-Pacific concerns,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Branden Clifton, PACAF Weapons and Tactics Branch deputy chief and event organizer. "The relationships with our Australian and British counterparts keep improving with events like WEPTAC, serving to enhance the capabilities and interoperability of forces detouring aggression within the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.”
The event ended with a session sharing the tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) resulting from the sessions on ways forwards towards solving the regional challenges to peace and security. These lessons learned are a regular means to fortify mission readiness and sharpen the lethal effectiveness of partnered forces, translating to a forceful deterrent to any threat in the Indo-Pacific.
