The Seventh Air Force will host a combined flying training event known as Vigilant Defense 24 with US, Republic of Korea, and Royal Australian Air Force forces Oct. 30 – Nov. 3, 2023. Vigilant Defense 24 is part of an annual, continuous training schedule designed to strengthen the Alliance between the U.S. Air Force and ROK Air Force, as well as allies in the region.

More than 25 various types of fighter, cargo, tanker, and reconnaissance aircraft from the U.S., ROK, and RAAF will be participating in Vigilant Defense from ROK and US bases across the peninsula. Vigilant Defense 24 is as a regularly scheduled event that allows for combined and joint training at the operational and tactical levels. This year’s event will focus on defensive, predetermined flying operations.

Combined flying training events like Vigilant Defense 24 are entirely defensive in nature, are not related to any current real-world threats or situations and are not intended to be threatening or provocative toward any other country.

Combat readiness is perishable, and the training value of Vigilant Defense is one of the highlights of the year, as we put our skills together and learn to operate as a combined and joint team as the culmination of many months of planning.
