During the Vietnam War, the F-4C Phantom II, 64-0679, downed the second MiG aircraft on July 10, 1965. The first MiG-killer was later shot down over the demilitarized zone on July 30, 1967, making this aircraft the sole survivor of the July 10, 1965, conflict. The F-4C made it to Misawa Air Base, Japan, in August 1988, and was restored and displayed in September 1992.
