U.S., Japan, and Korea aircraft conduct show of force in response to North Korea missile launch

A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer, flanked by Republic of Korea Air Force F-15K Slam Eagles, prepares to drop a 2,000 pound live munition at Pilsung Training Range, South Korea as a part of a show of force mission in response to North Korean unsanctioned intercontinental ballistic missile tests, Sept. 17, 2017. The most recent test took place last Friday and overflew the Japanese island of Hokkaido, resulting in increased tensions in both Japan and the Republic of Korea. The training mission conducted by the U.S. and Republic of Korea reaffirmed the capability of both nations to conduct air operations in tandem during a war-time capacity.
