A-10s complete second USPACOM Air Contingent mission

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Daniel Bates, an A-10C Thunderbolt II crew chief marshals Capt. John Meyers, before taking off from Clark Air Base, Philippines, on a maritime domain awareness mission in the vicinity of Scarborough Shoal April 21, 2016. Meyers and Bates are both deployed from Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, along with five A-10Cs, three HH-60G Pave Hawks and 200 Airmen as part of U.S. Pacific Command’s first Air Contingent, which was stood up at the invitation of the Philippines government in order to promote interoperability and provide credible combat forces to the Indo-Asia-Pacific capable of a variety of missions including force projection, air and maritime domain awareness, personnel recovery, combating piracy, and assuring access to the air and maritime domains in accordance with international law.
