The 14th Fighter Squadron executed refueling operations with a 5th Air Force sister squadron, the 909th Air Refueling Squadron, assigned to Kadena Air Base, over the Pacific Ocean Feb. 27, 2018.

While the 909th's KC-135 Stratotankers are the closest refueling aircraft to Misawa Air Base, their operations keep them busy. This was one of the first times in months that the two 5th Air Force units could meet up in the skies to execute a mission together.

Because the F-16 does not typically allow for hours-long flights, the 909th's in-air refueling capabilities extend the pilots' ability to continue operations without having to land and refuel.
