Aggressor squadron to stand up at Eielson Published July 31, 2006 By 080706 EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- The Air Force announced today that it will re-designate the 18th Fighter Squadron here as the 18th Aggressor Squadron and aircraft could arrive as early as October 2007. The unit will stand up with 18 F-16 Block-30 aircraft and will later expand to 24 aircraft ready to provide aggressor training for Red Flag – Alaska exercises in Spring 2008. The mission of the 18th Aggressor Squadron is to provide realistic, combat adversary training in air, space and information operations. Aggressor squadrons use enemy tactics, techniques, and procedures to give a realistic simulation of air combat. “We are excited about the future of Eielson Air Force Base and Red Flag - Alaska,” said Brig Gen David Scott, 354th Fighter Wing commander. “The beddown of the Aggressor Squadron here at Eielson will enable us to provide even greater combat training to U.S. forces and our allies.” The squadron will also support training and exercises throughout the Pacific region and in the lower 48 (United States).
