Joel Shaw retires twice, Team Hickam recognizes decades of service

Mr. Joel Shaw shares details about his life and service to his nation during his retirement ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, Feb. 20, 2026. Joel Shaw grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and enlisted in the Air Force in 1958, serving 28 years and three months with assignments in Germany, England and Thailand during the Vietnam War, as well as at the Pentagon and multiple stateside locations, before retiring in 1989 as a chief master sergeant.
