U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Marcedes Taylor, 51st Comptroller Squadron financial analysis flight noncommissioned officer in charge, poses for a photo as a part of Women’s Equality Day at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Aug. 17, 2023. Taylor manages the awards program within her flight, oversees finances, supervises special projects and coordinates with outside agencies. In 1948 Congress passed the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, which granted women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and the recently formed Air Force. Including women and people from different backgrounds and walks of life in the U.S. Armed Forces is what makes it strong. This strength in diversity is what gives the Air Force and the 51st Fighter Wing an advantage over its adversaries. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Aaron Edwards)
