US, Japan ‘Fly Girls’ celebrate female aviators with Yokota youth

Students look out of the open ramp of a C-130J Super Hercules assigned to the 36th Airlift Squadron during an incentive flight over Japan as part of Yokota Air Base’s annual ‘Fly Girls’ aviation event, March 8, 2023. More than 100 middle school and high school students were able to take part in a C-130J incentive flight flown by an all-female crew, tour U.S. Air Force and JASDF aircraft, and listen to U.S. and Japanese aviators’ personal experiences as aircrew during the event. ‘Fly Girls’ served as an opportunity for U.S. Air Force and JASDF aviators to work together in an effort to learn about each other’s’ procedures and educate Yokota AB’s youth the contributions women have made and continue to make in aviation and the defense of Japan.
