These small reflective cones were used in combination with night vision goggles by C-17 Globemaster III pilots to land on the runway at night during a Sept. 11 mission. The mission was flown as part of Operation Deep Freeze, commanded by U.S. Pacific Command's Joint Task Force Support Forces Antarctica.
