ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Airman 1st Class Jason Stromberg straps down a live 750 pound M117 bomb onto a specialized bomb lift. Airman Stromberg is part of a four-person team loading several free-fall, unguided, general purpose bombs on a B-52 Stratofortress jet. The 96th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron will later drop the bombs on the Farallon de Medinilla Target Range, an uninhabited island located about 150 miles north of Guam. Training missions like this ensures that maintenance and aircrew perform real world tactics and defensive measures by loading and dropping live weapons on target. The bombers’ participation in constant training helps emphasize the U.S. bomber presence, demonstrating U.S. commitment to the Pacific region. Airman Stromberg is with the with the 36th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and is deployed from the 2nd Bomb Wing, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
