KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Staff Sgt. Oscar Alvarado, 18th Operations Squadron, makes a call on the crash phone in the air traffic control tower during an exercise Oct. 17, 2006, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. The crash phone is used to rapidly notify all base emergency services in the event of an aircraft mishap.
