A B-2 Spirit tradition comes to Andersen as Brig. Gen. Douglas Owens, 36th Wing commander, is hosed down by his wife Teresa after his first flight in a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. The Andersen firefighters pulled one of their vehicles adjacent to the stealth bomber on the parking ramp and General Owens was ambushed as he exited the aircraft. Gen Owens is only the 408th person to ever ride in the B-2. Other notables include Representative Ike Skelton and The History Channel’s R. Lee Ermey. Whiteman AFB, Mo., is the only permanent operating base for the B-2. The first aircraft, Spirit of Missouri, was delivered Dec. 17, 1993. (Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Steven Wilson)
