An LC-130 Hercules fitted with new eight-bladed propellers takes off in Antarctica as part of Operation Deep Freeze, the Department of Defense's logistical support to the National Science Foundation and U.S. Antarctic Program. The propellers permit more cargo and passengers to be hauled using fewer missions and less fuel. Joint Task Force Support Forces Antarctica, led by 13th Air Force at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii, wrapped up the most recent ODF season Feb. 24, 2010. (Courtesy photo)
