Pacific Angel in Bangladesh

Senior Airman Josh Burns, a medic from 3rd Medical Operations Squadron at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, checks the blood pressure of a local Bangladesh woman at Monirampur Regional Training Center in Jessore, Bangladesh, as part of Operation Pacific Angel. Operation Pacific Angel is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance operation conducted in the Pacific area of responsibility to support U.S. Pacific Command's capacity-building efforts. This humanitarian and civic assistance program is aimed at improving military civic cooperation between the United States and countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region. More than 55 U.S. military personnel are participating in civil and medical assistance programs with the help of the Bangladesh Air Force and local nongovernmental organizations. Medical care for Bangladesh citizens will include: primary care, women's health, dental and optometry. Several classrooms are being refurbished as part of the mission at the Lauri High School and Primary School. The operation is scheduled through June 16, 2010. (U.S. Air Force photo/1st Lt.
