ODF 2010

Personnel from the National Science Foundation travel via a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III en route to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, on October 28, 2010. The U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army, and Coast Guard are lending operational and logistical support to the NSF's research and exploration efforts in Antarctica. This support is provided by the Joint Task Force Support Forces Antarctica, led by 13th Air Force at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. JTF SFA coordinates strategic intertheater airlift, tactical deep field support, aeromedical evacuation support, search and rescue response, sealift, seaport access, bulk fuel supply, port cargo handling, and transportation requirements.
