1st Lt. Andrew Spier, 17th Operational Weather Squadron Officer in Charge, Senior Master Sgt. Greg Espinosa, Flight Chief of Contingency Operations, and Staff Sgt. Arthur Gonzalez, West Zone Forecast Supervisor, monitor weather forecasting equipment to provide constant updates on incoming weather patterns to service members throughout the Pacific theater. The 17th OWS provided detailed weather forecasts of Mount Everest to the Airmen from the USAF 7 Summits team enabling mountaineers to become the first U.S. military team to summit the peak.
