A-10s complete second USPACOM Air Contingent mission
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Daniel Bates, an A-10C Thunderbolt II crew chief marshals Capt. John Meyers, before taking off from Clark Air Base, Philippines, on a maritime domain awareness mission in the vicinity of Scarborough Shoal April 21, 2016. Meyers and Bates are both deployed from Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, along with five A-10Cs, three HH-60G Pave Hawks and 200 Airmen as part of U.S. Pacific Command’s first Air Contingent, which was stood up at the invitation of the Philippines government in order to promote interoperability and provide credible combat forces to the Indo-Asia-Pacific capable of a variety of missions including force projection, air and maritime domain awareness, personnel recovery, combating piracy, and assuring access to the air and maritime domains in accordance with international law. A-10s complete second USPACOM Air Contingent mission
A U.S. Air Force A-10C Thunderbolt II flies over Clark Air Base, Philippines, upon return from a maritime domain awareness mission April 21, 2016. The aircraft can be serviced and operated from various bases with little dependency on facility types, additionally; many of its parts are interchangeable left and right, including the engines, main landing gear and vertical stabilizers. These unique aspects of the aircraft allow the aircrew and maintainers to deploy with minimal equipment and still ensure the jets are ready to fly missions out of Clark AB at a moment’s notice exercising the rights of freedom of navigation in international waters and international airspace. KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea Jan. 17, 2007 -- Medical and security personnel rush a 65-year old Korean male in need of medical attention to an awaiting ambulance after his Korean Airline flight was diverted to Kunsan from Incheon International Airport. The passenger airliner, with 274 people on board, diverted here due to poor weather at Incheon. He was transported to Kunsan Medical Center, located in downtown Kunsan City. AFCAC chairman awarded for public service
Gen. Paul V. Hester, commander Pacific Air Forces, presents "The Commander’s Public Service Award" to Air Force Civilian Advisory Counsel (AFCAC) chairman Mr. Laurence “Larry” Vogel in recognition of his leadership and community service to the Airmen of Pacific Air Forces. Mr. Vogel is the president and CEO of Y. Hata and Co., Limited, a food service distributor in Hawaii. Among a crowd of 75 Y. Hata employees in attendance, Gen. Hester praised Mr. Vogel for his 15 years of tireless community service. Mr. Vogel has been involved in numerous leadership roles and provides exceptional counsel to PACAF commanders on local and regional issues.
