Each day after completing her primary duties, Crown made contact, distributed information and created materials to motivate and educate staff members on the CFC program, many of whom did not have access to a computer. Salls received the award on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam. His organization was successful in increasing total donations from their 2019 results of $50 to more than $3,000. As a creative tool to increase donations, the agency implemented a marketing method called the “$1 Challenge.” Employees were encouraged to review the list of charitable organizations and commit one dollar as a single or recurring donation to a charity of their choice.
