Survivor remembers attack on Oahu
HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Retired Chief Master Sgt. Ralph Barnett stands in the foyer of the Pacific Air Forces Headquarters building Dec. 4, 2006 at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. The flag that Chief Barnett is standing in front of was the flag that flew over Hickam Field during the attack on Dec. 7, 1941. The PACAF building was a consolidated barracks where then Buck Sgt. Robert Swanson, chief of the Weather Branch at Pacific Air Forces located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, recently came forward to express his desire to testify of a time in which he had attempted to end his own life earlier in his Air Force career.
