Emergency airdrop rescues stranded ship
The Argos Georgia crew prepares to recover airdropped supplies Jan. 4. A C-17 and 62nd Airlift Wing and 446th Airlift Wing aircrews and support members from McChord AFB, Wash., are currently deployed to Christchurch to support the 13th AF-led JTF-SFA, OPERATION DEEP FREEZE.The Argos Georgia had suffered serious engine failure from negotiating ice while heading South in the Ross Sea, leaving it without propulsion and drifting with the ice. Emergency airdrop rescues stranded ship
A grateful crew of the Argos Georgia show their appreciation to the crew of the C-17 after the air drop. The Argos Georgia had suffered serious engine failure from negotiating ice while heading South in the Ross Sea, leaving it without propulsion and drifting with the ice. PACAF supports Bangladesh relief operations
Members of a 37-person team from the 36th Contingency Response Group, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, help offload a C-17 from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, at Zia International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Nov. 26. A 13th Air Force-led mission employed the C-17 to bring the CRG to Bangladesh, where they will establish relief supply transload operations in the wake of a Nov. 15 tropical cyclone which devastated much of the southern part of the country.
