Winter Solstice
EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Staff Sgt. John Eby and Technical Sgt. Eldon Arnaud (sitting in the cockpit), 354 Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, de-fuel an F-16 Fighting Falcon on the Flight Line, Dec. 21. Today is Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. At Eielson Air Force Base the sun rose at 1052 and set at 1441 today resulting in a total of 3 hours and 49 minutes from sun up to sun down. This night will be extra dark due to the moon being completely below the horizon all day resulting in 0% moonlight illumination.
