With President Bush's nomination, Admiral William Fallon, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command could be packing up his bags quite soon and setting sail to lead the fight in Central Command.

Hawaii leaders recognized Admiral Fallon and his wife Mary for their contributions to Hawaii's military community and to the people throughout the Pacific during his time as commander of the pacific command. Pending Senate confirmation, he could be leaving the island soon to take charge of CentCom, who oversees the wars in the Middle East.

"This man joins world leaders at the helm of the 21st century's biggest battle. Our fate as a free nation void of terror, is impart, going to be determined by how well he does his job and the monumental spiritual strength his wife Mary will provide," said Senator Fred Hemmings, 25th Senatorial District. "Admiral Fallon is marching into a daunting storm. In one hand he has the might of America, but what makes this man great is in the other hand he has the wreath of peace and diplomacy."

Admiral Fallon has led the Pacific Command for more than two years, and expressed the grave consequences of failure in the region and his personal hopes for success.

"The nation has asked for a new approach. The president has asked for a new approach, different leadership. In Navy parlance, I'm going to answer the bell, and do whatever I can do to help the situation."

"We applaud the Fallons and send them from our shores with aloha and look forward to the day when we welcome them back after successfully completing their mission," Hemmings said.

Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, has nominated Admiral Timothy Keating to take the Pacific Command and according to Admiral Fallon a Senate confirmation of his nomination as CentCom Commander, could result in him leaving the island immediately.
