Yokota's 730th Air Mobility Squadron recently excelled during Air Mobility Command's Logistics Standardization and Evaluation Program inspection here Feb. 5-9. The 730 AMS was given an overall squadron score of 94.75 percent - falling just shy of an outstanding rating of 95 percent or higher. This was the second consecutive excellent rating for the 730th.

"The 730th was well prepared for this inspection because we train to this standard every day," said Col. Stuart Haire, 730 AMS commander. "Our belief is that preparing for an evaluation shouldn't be about changing the way we do things to get ready but rather continuing to uphold the same standards we have every day. This is the standard level of performance we should have on any given day."

The purpose of the LSEP is to provide the AMC Director of Logistics (A4) and unit commanders with an independent assessment of a unit's ability to perform key logistics processes in a safe, well trained, technically compliant manner. In addition, the inspection, which occurs every 20 months, is aimed at promoting a culture of professional excellence and personal responsibility.

The two graded areas under the squadron were the aerial port, which earned an outstanding rating, and maintenance, which garnered an excellent. Overall, the 730 AMS had no safety or tech data violations, or unsatisfactory condition reports. In addition, the squadron has gone four years without a reportable on-duty accident and six and a half months without a reportable off-duty accident.

"As our leadership said 'this was our Super Bowl' and it was a blow-out from our perspective," said Tech Sgt. Robert Schultz, NCOIC of the Air Terminal Operation Center. "It was a total team effort, where every one of us in the 730th was approached by an inspector - and everyone did an outstanding job." Sergeant Schultz was one of eleven outstanding performers from the 730 AMS.

Other outstanding performers included Tech Sgts. Jorge Guterriz and Kenneth Wade; Staff Sgts. Kristopher Hill, David Luehling and Edward Troche, Senior Airmen Micah J. Loveless, Michael Sumner and Darryl Weaver, Airman 1st Class Jasimine Smith and Mr. Shunkichi Hiraide.

"This inspection validated that our Airmen know their jobs and perform their duties in safe and excellent manner," added Colonel Haire. "There is room for improvement and we will continue to strive for that."

The squadron leadership also recognized the collaboration between the 730 AMS and the 374th Airlift Wing.

"Although this was an evaluation of the 730 AMS, it is a reflection of the entire Yokota Community and how we work together as a team," added the colonel. "Without the backing of the 374 AW leadership and Airmen, we wouldn't be able to accomplish our mission - and through teamwork we all show our best performance as we will soon see during the wing's upcoming (IRRI) inspection."
