This June, the Pacific Air Forces Inspector General will conduct a Unit Compliance Inspection (UCI) of the 15th Airlift Wing and 154th Wing at Hickam Air Force Base. According to Maj. Matt Daack, 15th Airlift Wing, deputy chief, Plans and Programs, the UCI is a detailed assessment of how well 15 AW performs its mission and complies with regulatory guidance as a wing and within individual units.

"As we strive -- and succeed -- on a daily basis to maintain 'excellence in all we do,' the UCI will afford Team Hickam the opportunity to take a more discerning and detailed look at all of the processes that keep the mission moving," the major said. "Throughout the next couple of months, we'll work as a team to identify and highlight our most innovative and superior processes, as well as improve those that need more attention. In addition to general compliance, Major Daack said the inspection team will also observe an Emergency Management Exercise. This will allow them to assess Team Hickam's ability to respond to a major catastrophe.

"To prepare, we will conduct three major exercises between now and the UCI: one next week from the 13th through the 15th; one late next month; and one in mid-May," he said. "These exercises will involve a wide range of units on base. As a result, Team Hickam will notice an impact on the level of service at certain agencies and availability of certain facilities during these short exercises."

Specifically, Major Daack explained, the March exercise will utilize a portion of the Base Fitness Center all day on Mar. 13. The cardio room and weight room will be open, but the gymnasium, racquetball courts, locker rooms, showers and other facilities will not be available that day.

He also added that many customer service organizations will have drastically reduced manning throughout the March exercise. Finance Customer Service will be open all three days, but will be minimally manned, as will the Military Personnel Flight customer service and records sections so delays are to be expected. Likewise, will be open, but minimally manned. The Airman and Family Readiness Center will be closed on Mar. 13 and 14.

"Please plan ahead and be patient if you require any of these services during the exercise," the major said. "Service facility impacts for April and May will be published as we finalize the plans for the respective exercises.

"The readiness of Team Hickam truly depends on every member -- active duty, guard, reserve, civilian and families. Let's plan ahead, check our attitudes and work together to establish an even greater standard of superior mission performance."
