Civil engineers hone wartime deployment skills Published July 20, 2007 By 36th Wing Public Affairs ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam -- Airmen from the 36th Civil Engineer Squadron participated in a week-long exercise here this week to better prepare themselves for future deployments. During the exercise, the civil engineers simulated and responded to a chemical and biological attack, practiced self aid and buddy care scenarios, individual and team movement training and vehicle and convoy training with the 36th Contingency Response Group. They also processed through a decontamination line. "This is a recurring training requirement that we have to fill every 20 months," said Capt. Matthew Joseph, 36th CES. "We got experience practicing everything we do during our wartime mission." The exercise helped the Airmen to be better ready for wartime deployments, Captain Joseph said. "They certainly got to practice on their skills," Captain Joseph said. "They also got to learn about our wartime skills and practice them more in depth as well as experience in an exercise scenario. "The exercise provided them an opportunity to polish up some skills they have acquired through basic and [technical] school," the captain added.
