HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii-- A brick on the path is the perfect way to leave one's own legacy or to memorize someone who's served in the Pacific theater with direct ties to Air Force air and space power. Each rust-hued brick is approximately 4 1.2 x 9 inches; capital letters are etched and filled with epoxy.

Legacy Pathway

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- For weeks, the large lawn inside the main traffic circle on Hickam Air Force Base has been the site of some construction. The work is now finished, and the island of Oahu has a new military memorial to show for it. The Pacific Air Forces officially dedicated its newest memorial-the Legacy pathway.

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Air Force Association (AFA) Chapter 138 stepped up as wingmen for a Hickam Air Force Base beautification project, transforming Atterbury Circle into Atterbury Memorial Park.

Through organizing the sale of sidewalk bricks, AFA Chapter 138 continues to work with friends and families of Airmen, past and present, to forge the sidewalks of the park into lasting legacies for those who've played a role in the Pacific's air & space power. Like those that serve the higher calling, each brick is individually formed, yet is destined to become a part of something larger than itself...the Pacific Legacy Pathway.

On August 24, 2007, General Paul V. Hester officiated the Atterbury Memorial Park and Pacific Legacy Pathway Dedication Ceremony. The pathway, located at Hickam AFB's Atterbury Circle, extending inward to culminate at the circle of honor, around the Base Flag Pole honors Airmen, past and present, who have direct ties to Air Force air & space power in the Pacific.
