KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Senior Airman Tara Schmidt quizzes students as they prepare their bodies for the altitude chamber by breathing pure oxygen for 30 minutes here on Aug. 28, 2007. Reviewing subjects like trapped and evolved gases, spatial disorientation, situational awareness, night vision, and hypoxia and hyperventilation, help refresh the students minds with the important information that they will need to remember when they experience the effects of the chamber. The mission of the altitude chamber is to teach military personnel who fly in aircraft, to identify, recognize and treat symptoms of hypoxia.
