An Armed Forces News broadcast journalist was here Oct. 22-26 to capture the efforts of Andersen's Airmen on videotape.

Marine Lance Cpl. Daniel Restivo spent the week here and was given a chance to get up close and personal to America's most advanced bomber, the B-2 Spirit.

"You really can't comprehend how massive and sophisticated this aircraft is until you see it up close," Corporal Restivo. "Knowing that you're standing next to the deadliest aircraft in the world is pretty awesome."

The devil dog journalist had a chance to see the Airmen responsible for servicing and maintaining the B-2 in their own environment. He spent the day on Andersen's flightline and filmed the crews preparing the aircraft for launch.

Then, he was able to do something not many get to do.

As Corporal Restivo filmed, the aircrew started the Spirit's powerful engines and the crew chief guided the airplane on to the taxiway. From his position adjacent to the taxiway, Corporal Restivo was able to get some very up close and personal shots of the Spirit as it rumbled by.

It's an experience he won't forget soon.

"Seeing the stealth bomber in action was really interesting," he said. "Being one of the few people who can get up close and film it, that's pretty cool as well."

His trip here also involved interviewing some of the 393rd Expeditionary Squadron's leadership. While here, Corporal Restivo discussed B-2 operations and its unique capabilities with Lt. Col. Todd Copeland, 393rd EBS Director of Operations.

"Corporal Restivo was focused, to the point and professional; all hallmarks of a talented journalist," said Lt. Colonel Copeland. "I've done many interviews and his ranks near the top. I appreciate his efforts reporting the work we're doing here and our role in the Pacific."

The actual news cast is scheduled to air on AFN Nov. 2.

Corporal Restivo's documentation of the B-2 deployment illustrates the Air Force's promotion of stability and security in the Pacific region as air ambassadors for the United States.
