374th FSS to be Yokota's largest organization Published March 12, 2008 By Senior Airman Brian Kimball 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan -- The 374th Mission Support Squadron and 374th Services Division will begin the process of merging together on April 21 to become the 374th Force Support Squadron, the largest unit at Yokota AB. The new squadrons will help streamline processes, maximize customer service and cut costs associated with maintaining separate organizations, said Mr. Gary Garland, 374th SVD director. "There will be adjustments to the Flight Chief level, but no one will be changing AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code) or losing their job," Mr. Garland added. The new organization is the result of an ongoing, Air Force-wide merger of mission support and services squadrons which began in 2003. It is expected to be completed by early 2010. Six other bases have already completed the transformation. The new 374th FSS include five flights: Force Development, Manpower and Personnel, Airmen and Family Services, Sustainment Services and Community Services. "I am thrilled and looking forward to meeting and working with everyone as we transition into the 374th Force Support Squadron," said Senior Master Sgt. Freddy Estacion, 374th SVD superintendent.
