Korean Consulate General bids farewell to Hawaii

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Honolulu held a farewell reception with local community and senior military leaders at the Waikiki Resort hotel here April 26.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, Dae-Hyun Kang wrapped up for the past more than two and a half years of service as the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Hawaii.

"During the past two years the 15th Airlift Wing has supported many events with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea building the foundation for enduring strong friendships that will carry on with the newly appointed Consul General," said Col. JJ. Torres, 15 th Airlift Wing commander.

Consul General Kang thanked Oahu's military and community leaders for enhancing bilateral relationships between the Republic of Korea and the United States as well as the State of Hawaii.

To recognize Consul General Kang's friendship with the 15th Airlift wing over the past two and a half years, Colonel Torres, along with his wife Irene presented him with the 15th Airlift Wing Commander's coin for excellence.

Others attending the evening farewell event included. Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Gene Christy, Foreign Policy Advisor United Sates Pacific Command, Lieutenant General John Goodman, Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific, Major General Vern T. Miyagi, Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, United States Pacific Command, Major General Robert G.F. Lee, the Adjutant General State of Hawaii, and Rear Adm. Donna Crisp, Commander, Joint POW/MIA accounting command.
