Life just got a little easier for Airmen who are processing into or out of Eielson: Airmen Central is the result of a recent merger between agencies on base to make the process easier on all.

The 354th FSS merged the Military Personnel Section, Travel Management, Finance, Scheduled Air Transportation (SATO), Human Resources and the Civilian Personnel offices. Airmen Central officially opened Oct. 29 at Amber Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"This has been a yearlong project and finally, we are able to bring our military family a step closer towards efficiency in a time where we are learning to work lean," said 1st Lt. Tamekia Payne, 354th Force Support Squadron military personnel section assistance chief.

Brig. Gen. Mark Graper, 354th Fighter Wing commander, said during the ceremony's opening remarks the need was recognized by a group of individuals in charge of transformation ideas that their Airmen were wasting "a large amount of time chasing down a wide variety of agencies at a number of different locations." Thus, making the mandate of creating a "campus mentality" for efficiency when in and out processing.

Lieutenant Payne said that no services have been dissolved, only consolidated to one place, with services located on different floors in Amber Hall.

"The goal is to provide a central location where Airmen and their families can get the support they need, be it financial, civilian employment or personnel services," she said.

Airmen Central is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. No phone numbers have been changed due to offices moving buildings.
